Buffy the Vampire Slayer is in a serialized formatting in which each and every episode consists of a self-contained story, at the same time adding to a larger storyline. This huge storyline is divided into season-long narratives which see the rise and fall of a powerful antagonist called the “Big Bad.”

However, an episode typically has one or more villains, or a supernatural phenomenon, which are eventually defeated at the end of the episode. There are also elements and relationships included as well as recurring subplots. But generally, the show focuses on Buffy being an archetypal heroine. 

The most featured villains in Buffy the Vampire Slayer Complete Series are vampires especially in the first seasons. Vampires which have been based on traditional myths, folklore, and literary conventions. And as the series goes on, Buffy and her buddies fight several kinds of demons, zombies, werewolves, ghosts, deceitful humans, and many more. 

Buffy and her companions most of the time protect the world from devastation and annihilation. They do it by a combination of physical combat, detective style investigation, and magic. They are also guided by a comprehensive collection of ancient and mystical reference books. Buffy and Angel are good in undertaking hand-to-hand combat, that is later followed by Spike and soon by Giles and Xander to a lesser extent. Giles has a big contribution through his familiarity of demonology and supernatural lore. While Willow becomes an good witch in the end.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Complete Series has each season comprises of 22 episodes. Between 1997 and 2003, there are a total of 144 Buffy episodes from the seven seasons, excluding the unaired Buffy pilot episode.
